The old Leafs would have been at a disadvantage in this matchup. The Isles don't give you chances off the rush. Instead, they let you get in their zone, but keep you to the outside. The old Leafs would have taken some 50 shots on goal, and come away with one or two goals, and that would be the Isles' game plan. The new Leafs don't rely excessively on the stretch pass like the old ones did, but they have not shown they can consistently produce quality chances off the cycle.
