Tonic for a Loss

Never before this game have I felt so good after a loss, especially an ugly 6-2 mistake filled road contest.

Listening to HC Krueger during the Postgame has me thinking good thoughts about the team and how this group plays and for the first time in a long time I am not worried about the future of the Buffalo Sabres.

“The growth process doesn’t change, you know depending on the score of the game”.

“This is not a big problem these guys are trying and sometimes it’s because there trying a little too hard that mistakes are happening”.

“Of course were not okay with the puck management we had today none of us are”.

“And you know we didn’t show the Rangers enough respect and they punished us for it and we will learn from that”.

“Again we have to find that balance and were working on it we want to play on our toes we want to play hockey that pushes us forward and we still need to work on some things to get that right”.

HC Krueger has a calming presence at the podium during the postgame inquiry, the media hammering away at the “loss” and what the Head Coach thought.

Refreshingly there are no “coach speak” points thrown out for mass consumption, HC Krueger politely and thoughtfully answers with a straightforwardness I have not witnessed at post game interviews/inquiries previously from other Head Coaches.

I have also noticed HC Krueger behind the bench is different than the HC Krueger you see at the podium. The Sabres have a bench boss that is focused and has a “game face” during the game but after during the postgame he is a polite and smiling wealth of information speaking articulately, intelligently and hopefully about the Buffalo Sabres and what they are trying to build here in Buffalo.

I do not attend any meetings, get notifications, or am I in “the loop” as it were but I am all in on what is being presented. I believe in HC Krueger and what he has been speaking about since day one, building a Buffalo Sabres identity and culture going forward and becoming successful, sincerely, thank you HC Krueger.
